The World Bank Group Visits ADNU-KDC


A group of high-ranking officers from the World Bank visited the university last January 25, 2007 as part of their annual visit to all Knowledge for Development Centers (KDC's) all over the Philippines.  The World Bank Group was represented by the Regional External Manager for East Asia and the Pacific - Mr. Peter Stephens, Economist- Mr. Andrew Parker, Senior External Affairs Officer - Ms. Leonora Gonzales, and Ms. Moira Enerva.  They were met by the University President, Fr. Joel E. Tabora, S.J. and University Social Involvement Office Director, Atty. Mila Raquid-Arroyo for a breakfast meeting at the Avenue Plaza Hotel.  A formal program and lecture at the AdNU's Richie Fernando Hall was held afterwards.   Mr. Peter Stephens' lecture on the topic Development Communications: Trends and Issues, was attended by students and faculty members of Media Studies Department and the Digital Arts and Computer Animation Department, as well as students and faculty members of other schools in the city.  
 
After the lecture, the World Bank Group had a luncheon meeting with the members of the University Social Involvement Council (USIC) and some representatives of the USIC partner-municipalities at the Coko Café, Madrigal Building for Social Entrepreneurship where USIC Chair, Atty. Mila Raquid Arroyo had the chance to present the on-going USIC works and
projects.
 
ADNU is the only KDC in the whole of Bicol Region and is among the other eight designated KDC's all over the country (Asian Institute of Management- Makati, Notre Dame University- Cotabato City, Palawan State University- Puerto Princesa, Saint Paul University- Cagayan Valley, Siliman University- Negros Oriental, University of San Carlos- Cebu, University of Southeastern Philippines – Davao del Sur, Western Mindanao State University- Zamboanga
